Request for Proposals: Newmarket Square Mixed-Use Industrial Development Project is a mock-RFP created to study the Newmarket Square area in Boston, as if it were written by the City of Boston and the Boston Planning & Development Agency. After a semester-long study period, this paper is the result of intensive study of the issues facing the neglected area as well as an exploration of the underexamined industrial mixed-use typology.
The paper includes a section on the background of Newmarket Square itself, with context, stakeholders, and precedents meant to provide a backbone for the RFP. The project description outlines the objectives of the RFP as well as the team and scope of services that will be necessary. This comprehensive research paper serves as a holistic guide to the Newmarket Square area and was a valuable exercise in learning about the RFP submission process.
